Our School

Jacksonville Lighthouse Charter School – Flightline Upper Academy is a tuition-free, open-enrollment, public charter school located on the Little Rock Air Force Base in Jacksonville, Arkansas. We serve students in the fifth through eighth grades. Our school is open to both military and non-military families; we will provide Air Force Base access badges for non-military families to access the instillation.

Our History

Since opening our doors in 2011, JLCS Flightline Upper Academy has earned the top ranking for academic schools in Jacksonville. Flightline was originally established to provide additional middle school (grades 5–8) seats to families in the Jacksonville area. We are part of the Jacksonville Lighthouse Charter School District that includes two off-base campuses for grades K–6 and 7–12 in addition to our on-base campus.

Our Culture

We truly believe that our scholars come first and demonstrate our commitment to our scholars by creating a culture that empowers and prepares them for their future.

  • We follow a Restorative Practice disciplinary system that focuses on developing positive behaviors and changing negative behaviors with the overall goal of restoring relationships and keeping our scholars engaged in the classroom.
  • We have a dedicated and seasoned staff who truly understands the challenges middle-school-aged children go through. We foster a “family-like” atmosphere where every staff member takes ownership of every scholar.
  • We center our focus on building scholars’ social/emotional character and academic performance.

Our Mission

We commit to putting the best interest of our scholars above all other priorities. We will take ownership and responsibility to ensure each of our scholars is successful. We will create, sustain, and embody a culture where achievement is the driving force of our work.

Scholars come first!
